Rift PTS Datamining – August 7, 2018

Today’s PTS patch introduces a number of tweaks for Rift Prime, and the beginnings of a new feature for Rift – Planar Disciples.  This is mostly a data update to the PTS, with very little in the way of new assets.  Let’s dive into the known changes.

Planar Disciples

Planar Disciples are a new feature for Rift.  Text for them started appearing on PTS with the patches leading up to 4.5, but this is the first time the Character UI has been updated to reference them, and an ability has been patched in to actually utilize the feature.

You can see the new “Planar Disciples” section of the character sheet, which is currently empty.  Presumably, the ability to summon a Planar Disciple will be available here, or it will let you edit/modify them in some way.  Datamining suggests that a new ability will be available to summon them (similar to how you summon companion or combat pets now).

• Data suggests there are at least 6 levels for a planar disciple.  You might be able to infuse/level these up in some way
• Potential test planar disciples include:
  • Bahmi the Derpette
  • Falls Off Cliffs
  • Elfy the Elf
  • Ryan The Designer Not Engineer
  • Female Dwarf Justicar

What looks like the data for these are new client database data types that we have not seen before.  We will definitely be attempting to figure out how it all maps out as this feature becomes more fleshed out.

New Black Garden Warfront mode: Brawl

New data suggests that we will be seeing a new mode for the Black Garden warfront called “Brawl”.  From the datamined text:

“Brawl brings everyone from 10-50 into the same map. How? All gear is bolstered – Lower levels players will see a massive boost to combat effectiveness. Remember to fill your gear slots, as only equipped slots get the boost. GOOD LUCK!”

It looks like the rules for the warfront are unchanged, but the leveling brackets are condensed into one large pool.  No clue how ability disparities will be handled though.

Shiny Shenanigans

Quick one! 08/08 – 08/15 – Shiny Shenanigans.  That’s August 8 through August 15th for the EU folks reading this.

Tempest Rising World Event

Spotted as currently active on the Alpha (Live) PTS server.  This was the opening event for the Storm Legion expansion.  It sounds like it is making a return in some capacity for SL’s opening on Prime.  I wonder if this will also be made available in some form for Live.New Icon

New icon for a mount – mount_ice_harpy_wings – likely the wings from Gelidra (first boss of the Frozen Tempest raid).

New Dimension

New dimension – Pandora’s Box.  It is unclear what and where exactly this dimension IS.  This was first found on the PTS when 4.5 was patched for testing back in July, but now it has loading screen artwork and artwork for the dimension UI.
